Client - Enotria
(in partnership with Barlow Doherty)
Project - HTML Newsletter
Requirements overview
- Newsletter template
- Emailing tool
- Newsletter archive
Enotria wanted to send a regular enewsletter to different subscriber groups. They prefered an HTML newsletter to a text-based one as it would be more visually appealing and in keeping with the brand identity of their website. As they did not have inhouse HTML capabilities, we designed and built a template that could be used as the basis of all newsletters. An internal web-based administrative area was implemented where they could create a newsletter with a few clicks and with no technical skills. They simply type in the text, upload their chosen images and the system automatically creates the HTML code. The system allows the user to preview the newsletter before sending. The user then uploads a CSV file with the contacts they want to send the newsletter to and it is dispatched with one click. The newsletter is then archived along with information about its recipients.
The challenge: Deciding which elements needed to be included in the template and which needed to be changed by the Client. The more structured and consistent the template, the easier it is for Enotria to create the newsletters. Also, because of the size of their subscriber group, the mail out was set up to send the newsletter in batches so as not to overload their server.
